Title: Ariff Optimization for Smart Charging: A Bilevel Approach

Abstarct: He Rapid Increase in Ownership of Elec- Tric Vehicles (Evs) Raises Concerns Regarding the Ability of Power Grids to Satisfy the Charging Demand. Smart Con- Trol of Charging is Advocated as a Solution, Since It Can Con- Tribute to Flexibility in Power Grids. However, the Success of Smart Charging Derives From a Combination of User Ac- Ceptance for Smart Charging and Pricing and Correspond- Ing Tariffs. A Poor Orchestration of the System Can Lead to Unintended Consequences Acting as Barriers for Smart Charging Implementation From the Perspective of Current Ev Users. In This Paper, We Describe an Approach to the for the Dynamic Electricity Tariff Pattern for a Fleet of Grid Connected Evs. The Model Developed for This Study Adopts a Bilevel Approach to Set of Plausible Tariffs, Including a Strategy Which Specifically Seeks to Minimize Grid Peaks. The Results Show That Stepwise Tariffs Have the Potential of Shifting the Load Towards Periods Where More Cars Are Connected and Awaiting Charge. This Can Lead to Decrease Peak Loads by Targeting Low Congestion Time Periods.
